Strawberry Bounce is a dance party centering Black queer women, trans, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and folks across the gender spectrum. Founded in 2024 by KVtheWriter, Strawberry Bounce is an intentional space where music and community meet to celebrate Black Sapphic joy.

Through curated events, dance parties, and community-centered programming, Strawberry Bounce creates space for Black Sapphics to meet, find community, and feel celebrated in a safe and inclusive environment.

Mission

Strawberry Bounce builds space, community, and visibility for Black queer women, trans, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and other folks across the gender spectrum through music and community-centered programming. Created in response to the lack of intentional spaces for Black queer communities, Strawberry Bounce exists to create spaces that feel safe, affirming, joyful, and authentically ours.

Core Values

What does “Sapphic” Mean?

Sapphic is an umbrella term that means women, women-aligned, or non-binary people that are attracted to women. The umbrella term "sapphic" includes all women loving women—lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, and other queer women who may or may not be attracted to men.

We define it as all women, women-aligned, or non-cisgender men who are attracted to women, women-aligned, or non-cisgender men. This can include transmen and transmascs, nonbinary and gender nonconforming, bisexual and pansexual folks, and more.

KVtheWriter is a St. Louis-based artist, songwriter, community organizer, and social justice advocate from St. Louis. Known for her politically charged diss tracks to local politicians and creating the St. Louis anthem “Figure Out the Rest,” KV has built a reputation as both a multi-hyphenate creative and a passionate advocate for Black liberation.

As the founder of Strawberry Bounce, KV created the space out of a need to find community and safety in her hometown. Through music and community-building, she has helped create a space where Black queer women, trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people can gather authentically, celebrate themselves openly, and build meaningful relationships beyond the dance floor.

Outside of Strawberry Bounce, KV is an award-winning author, rapper and songwriter whose work explores themes of love, grief, healing, and liberation. She has performed at major festivals and events across the country and continues to use both art and organizing as tools for storytelling and cultivating change.
